What is Pilates
Pilates is a whole-body system focused on core based training & mindful movement. Our "core" consists of the deepest muscles that support our internal organs, stabilize our spine & pelvis, and keep us balanced & supported during motion. Pilates exercises train several muscle groups at once in smooth, continuous movements. By developing proper technique, you can actually retrain your body to move in safer, more efficient patterns of motion. Many of the exercises are performed in reclined or sitting positions, and most are low impact and partially weight bearing. Pilates is also an extremely flexible exercise system. A little about myself...
After 30 years of enjoying an active lifestyle, I found myself with a half knee replacement at 44! After a lengthy recovery, my body was out of shape and over compensating. I had sub-optimal alignment and was in discomfort most of the time. Luckily, I found Pilates. After several years of practicing Pilates, I decided to take the lead and trained to become a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor for both Reformer and Mat. I also took additional courses to become a STOTT PILATES Trained Instructor for Cadillac.
It would be my pleasure to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for Pilates with you in my bright, large private home studio. My commitment to my clients is to provide professional, quality workouts that are customized to your abilities, needs and goals. I will be continuously learning and developing my skills by participating in Continuing Education Workshops.
